Corporate
Sensitization Workshops
Bloodlink Foundation conducts education
seminars for corporate organizations
representatives, the aim of which
is to dispel fears associated with
blood donation and to educate them
on the benefits of blood donation
to the donor and society at large.
The organizations are at the also
encouraged to incorporate blood donation
into their CSR activities. Blood donation
is probably the only CSR activity
that requires no budgetary commitment
from these organizations. In the long
term BLF hopes to recruit a sufficient
number of organizations to ensure
an adequate supply of safe blood for
our hospitals at all times. Given
that the shelf life of blood is only
30 days, the need for regular donors
cannot be over emphasized. BLF targets
to induct 200 corporate organizations
by the end of March 2009. The target
organizations will be based in Nairobi,
Mombasa,Kisumu, Eldoret and Nakuru.
In total, Bloodlink Foundation has
conducted 11 blood donor sensitization
workshops for 246 corporate organizations
with a total of 404 individuals trained
this far.
A corporate sensitization workshop
took place on 25th November 2008 at
Sarova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi.
55 participants representing over
20 corporates were trained in blood
safety.
A Corporate workshop was held in
Mombasa at Sarova Whitesands Hotel
on 30th April 2010 attracting 47 participants
from 19 Mombasa based corporate organisations.
Participants were sensitized on the
need to take up blood donation as
a Corporate Social Responsibility,blood
safety, HIV/AIDS and blood donation
and the blood donation process.
